A Case of the Mondays

A Case of the Mondays is a weekly podcast hosted by lifelong friends, business partners, and dads navigating real life in an increasingly artificial world.

We grew up together, built a business together, and now we sit down each week to talk about what matters—family, faith, culture, sports, and the everyday moments that shape who we are.

🎙️ A Case of the Mondays – Episode 27Boss and Employee Switch Day
This week, the guys are back with birthday stories, trail races, kids’ sports, Razorback disappointment, CiCi’s Pizza, dove hunting, and one very important question:
What would happen if the boss and employee switched places for a day?
National Boss and Employee Exchange Day gets the guys talking about what actually makes a good boss—and what makes a good employee. The consensus? Good leaders give people room to do their job, lead by example, and focus on the goal instead of micromanaging every move. And on the employee side, being coachable, teachable, and willing to ask questions goes a long way.
The conversation even connects back to Scripture as the guys talk about Daniel being faithful and dependable even while serving under an ungodly king. Sometimes the way you work, lead, and carry yourself can point people toward God more than you realize.
Lucas also continues digging into materialism and the danger of measuring God’s blessing by how much money or stuff we have. The reminder is simple: possessions aren’t proof that we’re doing life right, and money was never meant to be the thing that gives us joy.
And because this is A Case of the Mondays, all of that somehow shares an episode with Arkansas football, professional sports, hoagies, Virginia, Iceland, youth football, and a Gen Z review of The Prestige.
Plus:🎂 Birthday weekends and “middle-class fancy” Olive Garden🏃 Running the Grit and Guts trail race at Mount Nebo⚽ Coaching 6U soccer and keeping unofficial score🕊️ Dove hunting and accusations of never getting invited🍕 CiCi’s Pizza, arcades, and childhood birthday memories🐗 Another painful weekend of Arkansas football🏈 Why Arkansas Tech football might be the new safe place👔 What makes a good boss and a good employee🙏 Daniel, faithfulness, and trusting that God keeps His promises💰 Materialism, money, and where real joy comes from🥪 Hoagies, Philadelphia, Virginia, Maine, and Iceland🎬 Gen Z Movie Review: The Prestige🪄 Revenge, obsession, and one very complicated ending
At the end of the day, whether you’re the boss or the employee, the same things matter: be dependable, stay teachable, do your work well, and remember who you ultimately represent.
A little bit of faith, a little bit of family, and a whole lot of randomness.

🎙️ A Case of the Mondays – Episode 26Managing Expectations
Labor Day pushed the podcast to Tuesday this week, but apparently you can still have a pretty serious case of the Mondays on a Tuesday.
The guys recap a long Labor Day weekend filled with Branson, jet skis, Silver Dollar City, golf tournaments, college football, family time, and a pretty major milestone as Deacon takes on his first real grown-up roller coaster at Powder Keg.
Then college football takes over.
Arkansas got the win, but apparently winning isn’t enough for everybody. The guys talk Ryan Silverfield, offensive struggles, fan expectations, how many games the Razorbacks might actually win, and why sometimes you just need to give people a chance before declaring the season over.
The conversation eventually gets a little more important as the guys talk about what they’ve been reading in Ezra, Nehemiah, Hosea, John, and Exodus. One takeaway keeps coming back: listen, obey, trust what God has promised, and get after what He has called you to do. Don’t let opposition—or a bunch of poopy pants—keep you from doing what you know you’re supposed to do.
There’s also some dad talk about technology, video games, electric bikes, letting kids take healthy risks, and the realization that once you introduce something into your house, you may have created a whole new argument you didn’t have before.
And Alex is back for the Gen Z Movie Review with The Usual Suspects, one of the biggest plot-twist movies of the ’90s—and somehow that leads to The Prestige, Keyser Soze, and Moe’s salsa. Alex gives it a 7.7 out of 10 lighthouses.
Plus:🎢 Deacon takes on Powder Keg at Silver Dollar City🌊 Getting trapped on a jet ski for three hours🏌️ Labor Day golf tournaments and bachelor-weekend energy🏈 Arkansas football, Ryan Silverfield, and realistic expectations🐗 How many games do the Razorbacks actually win?📖 Ezra, Nehemiah, Hosea, John, Exodus, and getting into God’s Word🙏 Trust the promises of God and get after it🎮 Why delaying video games might save you a few arguments later🚲 Electric bikes and whether kids still need to pedal🖖 Star Trek: somehow nerdier than Star Wars🌀 CERN, Mandela Effects, ampersands, and other completely necessary discussions🎬 Gen Z Movie Review: The Usual Suspects🥸 And apparently Luke looks taller on camera
Sometimes our biggest problem isn’t what actually happened—it’s what we expected to happen.
Set the right expectations. Trust what God has called you to do. Give people a chance. And keep moving forward.
A little bit of faith, a little bit of family, and a whole lot of randomness.

🎙️ Trail Mix | A Case of the Mondays – Episode 25
This week, the guys are back with another episode full of family, faith, parenting, trail mix, questionable food science, baseball, old movies, and the usual amount of completely unnecessary rabbit trails.
The conversation starts with names, cursive handwriting, wallpaper, youth baseball, Silver Dollar City, burgers, smoked salsa, and enjoying one of those rare weekends where the weather finally starts to feel a little like fall.
Then things get more serious.
The guys talk about materialism, the anxiety that can come from chasing more, and the danger of letting money, possessions, comfort, or success become something we depend on more than God. They also reflect on Romans 8, trusting God when we don’t even know what to pray, and the reminder that God is working even when we can’t see what He is doing.
That leads into another big parenting conversation: redeeming the time. Whether it’s mowing the yard, golfing, working on projects, catching frogs, or picking up sticks, the challenge is to bring your kids along instead of always trying to get things done faster without them.
The guys also talk about the importance of finishing well. Reading through Chronicles is full of examples of people who started faithfully, became comfortable or prideful, and eventually fell away. And when you’re leading a family, your decisions rarely affect just you.
Then, naturally, the conversation turns to National Trail Mix Day.
Plus:⚾ Youth baseball tournaments and why parents need to calm down🎢 Facing fears at Silver Dollar City🍔 The debate over the best burger in town🌶️ Smoked salsa and Meat Church recipes📚 Ruth, Ecclesiastes, Chronicles, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, and graphic novels for kids💰 Materialism, anxiety, and treating money as a tool instead of an idol🙏 Romans 8 and trusting God when you don’t know what to pray👨‍👧‍👦 Redeeming the time and bringing your kids along🪵 Paying kids to pick up sticks🥜 National Trail Mix Day, GORP, Scroggin, and indulgent trail mix🚑 A scary childhood food-allergy story involving trail mix🏃 Why you should probably start running—and definitely stretch👽 Gen Z Movie Review: Signs🎬 Aliens, crop circles, M. Night Shyamalan, and “nothing happens for no reason”
Sometimes the most important thing isn’t getting the job done as quickly as possible. Sometimes it’s slowing down, bringing your kids with you, trusting God with the outcome, and making sure you finish well.
A little bit of faith, a little bit of family, and a whole lot of randomness.

🎙️ **A Case of the Mondays – Episode 24****Waffles**
This week, the guys somehow go from parent-kid golf, bounce houses nearly headed to Oz, and reading *The Hobbit* with their kids to materialism, generosity, National Waffle Day, and a full-blown debate over one of life’s great questions:
**Pancakes or waffles?**
The guys recap a busy weekend of golf, baseball, church events, and family time before getting into what they’ve been reading and learning.
That conversation takes a more serious turn as they talk about faithfully following God, the danger of pride and materialism, and how easy it is to slowly become attached to comfort and possessions without even realizing it.
They also talk about generosity, financial margin, and the freedom that comes from remembering that what we have ultimately isn’t ours. Sometimes the best way to loosen money’s grip on us is simply to give some of it away.
Then things get much less serious.
National Waffle Day launches an unnecessarily passionate debate over waffles versus pancakes, Chick-fil-A chicken and waffles, Eggo’s original name, Waffle House, stroopwafels, waffle irons, and the surprising connection between waffles and the creation of Nike shoes.
And to wrap things up, the Gen Z Movie Review takes on **National Treasure**—Nicolas Cage, the Declaration of Independence, hidden clues, Freemasons, treasure hunts, and why adventure stories never really get old.
**Plus:**⛳ Parent-kid golf and managing expectations🌪️ A Back to School Bash that nearly sent bounce houses to Oz📚 The Hobbit, Ashtown Burials, and reading with your kids🙏 Faithfulness, obedience, and trusting God with the outcome💰 Materialism, generosity, and creating financial margin🧇 The great pancake vs. waffle debate🐔 Chicken and waffles and Chick-fil-A excitement👟 How a waffle iron helped inspire Nike’s famous sole design🥞 Eggo waffles were originally called “Froffles”🏴‍☠️ Why everybody loves a good treasure hunt🎬 A Gen Z review of *National Treasure*
Sometimes we can control the effort, but we can’t control the outcome. Sometimes we need to loosen our grip on our stuff. And sometimes… we just need to admit that waffles are better than pancakes.
A little bit of faith, a little bit of family, and a whole lot of randomness.

🎙️ **A Case of the Mondays – Episode 23****Thrift Stores**
This week, Alex joins the guys in the studio as the conversation moves from garage sales, lemonade stands, baseball history, and wallpaper projects to a much bigger question: **what is actually worth holding on to?**
Lucas recaps Bargains Galore on 64, where a pile of stuff headed for the trash somehow turned into hundreds of dollars—and a lemonade stand became an unexpected opportunity to start teaching his daughter about giving, saving, and investing.
The guys also dive into National Thrift Shop Day, the strange thrill of finding something valuable hidden among somebody else’s junk, old books and collectibles, secondhand sports gear, and why thrift shopping is basically a grown-up treasure hunt.
But the conversation eventually turns toward a different kind of value.
While reading through 2 Chronicles, one pattern keeps showing up: people who faithfully follow God experience His blessing, but success can slowly turn into comfort, complacency, and pride. The challenge is simple—**don’t just start well. Finish well.**
Along the way, the guys talk about church leadership, the example we set in our homes, reading great stories with our kids, letting them use their imaginations, and remembering that even the loud and chaotic seasons of parenting won’t last forever.
**Plus:**⚾ One of the wildest starts to a Major League Baseball career🍋 A kid-run lemonade stand and teaching children about money💰 Turning unwanted stuff into $680 at Bargains Galore🛍️ National Thrift Shop Day and the thrill of finding hidden treasure📚 The Hobbit, Redwall, Wingfeather, and getting kids excited about great stories🙏 Pride, complacency, obedience, and the importance of finishing well⛪ What Scripture says about church leaders and being an example worth following👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Learning to appreciate the noise and chaos while the kids are still young🎬 National Treasure, scary movies, and plenty of unexpected rabbit trails
Sometimes the things worth keeping aren’t the things with the biggest price tag.
Do what’s right. Have faith. Endure. Work hard. And finish well.

🎙️ A Case of the Mondays – Episode 2210 Stitches and a Little Faith
This week, the guys are back with an episode that somehow goes from a Superman-style pool dive ending in 10 stitches to s’mores, football memories, childhood movies, and a conversation about what it means to have a little faith.
The guys recap their weekends, revisit some of the strange memories of traveling during COVID, debate the difference between getting much-needed rest and just being lazy, and share stories from their days playing sports—including why cross-country may not be for everyone.
Then the conversation turns to Angels in the Outfield and one of the biggest takeaways from the movie: pray with expectation. Sometimes faith means believing, sticking with it, and trusting even when what you believe sounds a little crazy to everyone else.
Plus:🤕 A pool dive that ends with 10 stitches😴 National Lazy Day and the difference between rest and laziness🔥 National S’mores Day and the proper way to make a s’more🏈 Football, cross-country, and sports memories✈️ Remembering what travel was like during COVID⛪ Kids learning about Jesus and the things they pick up at church🎬 Revisiting Angels in the Outfield🙏 Praying with expectation and sticking to what you believe

🎙️ Ep. 21 Eternity Starts Now | A Case of the Mondays Podcast
This week, the original crew is back together for a conversation that begins with fast-food rankings, bike rides, golf struggles, and ’90s nostalgia before arriving at a much bigger question: What if eternal life isn’t something that begins after we die?
If eternal life is truly eternal, then it has already started. That changes how we approach our faith, families, work, uncertainty, and the ordinary decisions we make every day. Instead of waiting for life to begin, we can trust what God has promised and live with purpose right now.
The guys also have an honest conversation about parenting, discipline, losing patience, apologizing to their children, and how their wives help them become better fathers. They discuss trusting God when life doesn’t make sense, resisting the pull of materialism, and following God’s design even when it conflicts with the culture around us.
Then Alex reviews Gladiator and explores what Maximus teaches us about character, leadership, sacrifice, and earning respect through the way we live.
Plus:
🍟 Ranking fast-food fries, sauces, and chicken restaurants🚲 Bike rides, parenting struggles, and learning when to push our kids📼 Answering machines, video stores, TV Guide, and ’90s nostalgia📱 How convenience and technology have changed everyday life👨‍👩‍👧 Parenting with discipline, patience, humility, and grace💍 How husbands and wives help one another become better parents💰 Materialism, comfort, and choosing family over more stuff🙏 Trusting God through uncertainty when life doesn’t make sense♾️ Why eternal life isn’t only something waiting for us later🎬 Alex’s Gen Z Movie Review of Gladiator
Eternal life doesn’t begin someday. For those who belong to Christ, eternity starts now—so take what God has promised and get after it.

🎙️ Ep. 20 Kindness Costs Nothing | A Case of the Mondays Podcast
This week the guys welcome Tracey to the podcast for the first time! What starts as a conversation about sports cards, softball tournaments, vacations, golf, and Magic Springs slowly unfolds into something much deeper.
As the stories pile up, the conversation naturally lands on kindness—not just toward strangers, but toward the people who matter most. The guys share honest parenting moments, talk about learning patience with their kids, discuss the importance of Southern hospitality, reflect on the sacrifices of our veterans, and are reminded that the smallest acts of kindness often leave the biggest impact.
Like every episode, the destination wasn't planned, but by the end, one truth became clear:
Kindness costs nothing, but it can change everything.
Plus:🃏 Tracey's first appearance on the podcast and his sports card adventure🥎 First-year kid pitch softball and the chaos that comes with it🎢 Family trips to Magic Springs and Hot Springs Village⛳ Golf, go-karts, and making summer memories with the kids🤝 Why Southern hospitality still matters🙏 Honest conversations about parenting with more patience and saying "yes" a little more often🇺🇸 Remembering the sacrifices of Korean War veterans💬 Why kindness is one of the simplest—and most powerful—ways to impact the people around us

🎙️ A Case of the Mondays – Episode 19Looking Up Instead of Looking Down
This week the guys are back together for another round of conversations that somehow go from camping mishaps and Home Run Derby highlights to the moon landing, conspiracy theories, parenting, and why our phones may be stealing more from us than we realize.
Lucas shares a camping trip that started at the wrong campground, a weekend spent disconnected from technology, and a simple moment reading Proverbs with his daughter that became one of the biggest wins of the week. The conversation turns into a challenge for all of us to spend less time looking down at our screens and more time looking up—at our families, God's creation, and the moments that really matter.
Along the way, the guys react to YouTube comments, debate whether bicycle kicks are really that difficult, relive college memories of Little Caesars and Taco Bell, discuss National Moon Day, and wander into one of their favorite rabbit trails on government conspiracies. As always, it's a little bit of faith, a little bit of family, and a whole lot of randomness.
Plus:🏕️ A camping trip that started at the wrong campground🌌 Looking at the stars instead of our phones📖 Reading Proverbs with our kids and being more intentional at home🏀 Travel basketball, sports parents, and keeping youth sports in perspective⚾ The Home Run Derby and why baseball still gets All-Star Weekend right🍕 College memories, Little Caesars, Taco Bell, and dumpster pizzas🌕 National Moon Day, conspiracy theories, and MKUltra discussions💬 Reading your YouTube comments and responding to the internet

The guys recap family adventures to Petit Jean State Park, anniversary trips to Branson, Dude Perfect Live, and life with newborns before diving into a bigger conversation about the influence we have as husbands, fathers, friends, and followers of Christ.
Along the way, we discuss raising kids, making the most of every season, Christian voices in culture, the impact of Promise Keepers, Revelation's seven churches, marriage, conviction from the Holy Spirit, and why the little moments with our families often become the ones that matter most.
Whether it's dancing with your daughter before work, hiking with your kids, or watching role models point the next generation toward Jesus, this episode is a reminder that influence matters—and that the way we live today shapes the people around us for years to come.
